On this tour we will start in New York and continue into Canada to reflect and explore the footsteps of escaped slaves and the abolitionists who assisted them in gaining their freedom. September is National Underground Railroad Month which is the month chosen to honor both Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman. However, we have moved the travel dates to October to capture the excellent scenery of Fall Foliage (we hope!).

  • Day 6: Tour Chatham, Canada's Black Mecca, the BME Freedom Park, and the Canadian portion of the Tower of Freedom Underground Railroad Monument; continue to Detroit
  • Day 7: Attend church service at the Second Baptist Church, one of the few remaining safe houses on the way to Canada; tour Underground Railroad sites in Detroit including Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History and the Detroit portion of the Tower of Freedom Underground Railroad Monument; conclude with a visit to Hitsville USA Studio, the birthplace of Motown Music
  • Day 8: Travel to Cleveland for an afternoon tour of Underground Railroad sites and enjoy a "Farewell Dinner"
  • Day 9: Visit the Cozad-Bates House, one of the oldest remaining structures in Cleveland's University Circle, where abolitionists often aided Freedom Seekers on their way north; fly back to Dallas

Tulsa Massacre Tour

  • Tulsa, OK
  • The Tulsa race massacre (also called the Tulsa race riot, the Greenwood Massacre, the Black Wall Street Massacre, the Tulsa pogrom, or the Tulsa Massacre) took place on May 31 and June 1, 1921. This tour will pay homage to the martyrs of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and celebrate the resilience of the Greenwood spirit and the Black Wall Street mentality. It was the wealthiest Black community in America. However, within 24 hours, black residents were attacked and the city was annihilated by mobs of white residents (many of them deputized and given weapons by city officials), bombed from the air and burned to the ground. The Greenwood District trailblazers turned trials, tribulations and tragedy into a triumph of the human spirit. Their legacy endures…
